Senior Software Engineer Position

Day Zero Diagnostics is a machine learning-based genomics startup in Boston that is seeking to recruit a highly motivated senior software engineer to join our team. At Day Zero Diagnostics we are modernizing the way infectious diseases are diagnosed and treated by developing a rapid diagnostic that sequences the genomes of pathogenic bacteria, and then uses machine learning methods to identify the cause of the clinical infection. Responsibilities

The applicant will join a small software engineering group and work on development and maintenance of compute infrastructure. Under the direction of a Software Architect, the positions responsibilities include:

  • Implement cloud infrastructure and pipeline management for storing, processing, and analyzing large volumes of genomic data
  • Develop architecture for enabling cloud-deployment of machine learning methods
  • Develop customer-oriented front-end apps and genomic services
  • Database architecture and maintenance
  • DevOps maintenance
  • Work closely within the group and with outside collaborators
  • Maintain close communications with the team regarding progress

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3-6 years of experience
  • Experience architecting and building out infrastructure in cloud services
  • Experience deploying scalable pipelines in Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud/Azure/AWS
  • Fluency in Python, C, Linux, and git
  • SQL and database design experience
  • TensorFlow, GPU, and bioinformatics experience helpful but not necessary
  • Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends
